Dark Ages
plural noun
  • 1 the period in Europe between the fall of the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages, c.500–1100 ad, judged to have been a time of relative unenlightenment.
  • 2 Archaeology a period in ancient Greece from the end of the Bronze Age until the historical period, in which there was no building and the art of writing was apparently lost.
