usage: Scottish, Scot, Scots, and Scotch are all variants of the same word, but have developed different uses and connotations in modern English. Today, it is advisable to use Scottish to mean ‘relating to Scotland or its people’, and Scot (along with Scotsman, Scotswoman, and the plural form the Scots) to mean ‘a person from Scotland’.
