In French, pronouns reflect the number and gender of the noun they are standing for. Thus ours is translated by le nôtre, la nôtre or les nôtres according to what is being referred to: the blue car is ours = la voiture bleue est la nôtre;
their children are older than ours = leurs enfants sont plus âgés que les nôtres.
