LaureaThis is the award traditionally given in Italy to those who complete a course of study at university, for four years in most faculties. In the last few years the situation has changed with the introduction of the laurea triennale or breve (the three-year or short degree), which comes at the end of a three-year course and leads to immediate job opportunities, as distinct from the laurea specialistica o magistrale (specialist degree), which involves a further two years of study and is the only one to lead to the title of dottore.
